Tempt My Tummy Tuesday: Cowboy Pasta

Cowboy Pasta

2 Tablespoons Olive Oil
1/2 whole Large Onion, Diced
2 cloves Garlic, Minced
2 pounds Ground Beef
Salt To Taste
Freshly Ground Black Pepper, To Taste
1 teaspoon (generous) Ground Thyme
1 Can of diced tomatoes + ½ can water
1/4 cup Freshly Grated Parmesan Cheese
1-1/2 pound (to 2 Pounds) Rigatoni

Heat olive oil in large skillet or pot over medium-low heat. Add onion and cook a couple of minutes, until starting to turn translucent. Add garlic and stir, cooking 1 minute, making sure not to brown the garlic.
Add ground beef and cook until brown. Drain most of excess fat. Add salt, pepper, and ground thyme. Stir to combine. Dump in canned tomatoes with their juice. Stir, reduce heat to low, and cover pot. Cook for 30 minutes, stirring a couple of times. Uncover the pot and cook an additional 30 minutes.
Cook rigatoni according to package directions—don’t overcook! Drain and place individual portions into bowls.
Stir in 1/4 to 1/2 cup grated Parmesan into the sauce. Check and adjust seasonings. Ladle sauce over cooked pasta, sprinkle with more Parmesan, and serve.
Serve with Cheese toast and a salad.

Tempt My Tummy Tuesday: Chicken Noodle Dinner

Chicken Noodle Dinner

Ingredients:

9 ounces extra-wide egg noodles

6 cups chicken broth

1/4 cup & 2 tablespoons cornstarch

1 pound & 2 ounces broccoli

15 ounces canned chicken breast

1/4 teaspoon pepper

1/4 teaspoon garlic salt

Directions:

Fill a saucepan with water and heat on high until boiling

Preheat oven to 400 degrees.

Add noodles to boiling water and continue cooking on high, stirring occasionally.

Cook until tender (about 10 minutes).

While pasta cooks, mix chicken broth with cornstarch. Heat in a saucepan on medium high heat.

Place brown and serve rolls on a baking sheet and place in hot oven.

Chop broccoli and add to saucepan with chicken broth. Stir.

Drain canned chicken and add to saucepan with broth and broccoli. Stir.

Drain and rinse pasta. Set aside.

Continue cooking sauce until it reaches the desired thickness.

Add noodles and stir to coat.

Turn heat to low and continue stirring until noodles are warm.

Serve with dinner rolls and a side salad.

Serves 6

Let me start by telling you all how much I have missed blogging. It is the perfect getaway and the most precious log of life events, and I am ecstatic that I decided to get back into it.

That being said...

{the babies}:
YA'LL they aren't even babies anymore!! Grace is 3 1/2 and Jacob is 1 1/2. ohmygoodness!! Can someone please tell me how time goes by so fast??
Grace is doing very well in school. She can count to 20 in spanish and say her alphabet in spanish. And, she is quite the artist! She loves her little brother and does everything in her power to "help" me with him. She is such a precious child, a beautiful little girl. I adore her more than words can say.

Jacob is doing SO good! He is running around like a little man and he is quite the dare devil, nothing hurts him, ya'll! He is so strong, so sweet, and the cutest thing I ever did see. He's walking, somewhat talking, and moving around so fast!! He is so smart. He loves gummie snacks, his pawpaw, Dora the Explorer (I know :/) and playing outside!!

{me}:
For the past 3 years I have been attending the University of Houston's (GO COOGS!) Business school... well, I FINALLY graduated in December 2010, and I am now the proud bearer of a Bachelor's degree in Business Administration with a concentration in marketing!

I was unemployed from late October until 3 weeks ago. It was extremely hard finding a job as a new graduate in my field, and I tried for 7 months to do it on my own, and finally swallowed my pride and decided to go through a head hunter. In NO time I was interviewing and offered a position with Chevron in their Occupational Excellence Group which is part of their Health, Environmental, and Safety Unit. I am so proud of my job, and I am really excited to pursue my career path here.

Jacob Ryan is here!

WHEW! We have been SO busy! But, couldn't be more thrilled of the arrival of Jacob. He is just a sweet little bundle of joy.

He came into our lives on December 3, 2009 at 4:27 PM

Weighed 8 lbs 6.5 oz and was 21 1/2 inches long, BIG BOY!

He is healthy and happy, and I am doing great. The labor was super easy and so fast! I am so thankful for all of your thoughts and prayers!

Grace just adores her little brother and is such a big helper! She helps feed and change him, and loves on him all the time. She is such a little mama. I love watching her with him.

Here are a few pictures of our past few days, sorry there aren't many, my computer is acting up and this is all I can get to for now, but, don't you worry, there will be more posted as soon as possible!

In other news, we just found out that Justin will be leaving me again, only this time, much longer :( He will be headed offshore for a DIP test (don't ask) December 28th (which means he will miss our 3 year anniversary on the 30th) and will not return until sometime late January. I am, to say the least, devestated that he will be gone so long so soon into Jacob's life. So any support, prayers, and company would be FAB!

Tempt My Tummy Tuesday: Mexican Chicken Penne Pasta

Mexican Chicken Penne Pasta

1 package (16 oz) penne pasta

2 cups cubed cooked chicken (if you want to be super speedy, like me, pick up a rotissiere chicken from the grocery store)

1 1/4 cups salsa con queso dip

1/2 cup milk

1/4 tsp. salt (it actually needs a little more than this)

1 can (15 oz.) black beans, rinsed and drained

1 large tomato, chopped

3 green onions, chopped

1/4 cup shredded cheddar cheese (I ALWAYS use more than this)

1. Cook pasta according to package directions.

2. Meanwhile, in a large bowl, combine the chicken, queso dip, milk and salt together.

3. Drain pasta; add to chicken mixure and toss to coat.

4. Top with black beans, tomato, onions and cheese

ENJOY! Let me know if you try it and love it!

You know so much more about Grace than you do about me, since us mamas tend to brag and chat about our babies than we do ourselves, so I decided to make this post about - all things me. That way, lovely readers I don't know can learn a little more about me, and those I do know may learn a little more.

my family = me.

I love and adore everything about my family, and I am convinced that there is no way I could have been any more blessed. My hubby amazes me with his appreciation with every day life and his hard work and dedication to make this family sore. Grace is the happiest child I know, she rarely has 'off days' and she's just adorable ( I am allowed to say that!). And, we can't even wait for sweet Jacob Ryan to arrive. He will complete our family of 5.

cooking = me.

Paula Deen is my food "idol". Anything tasty, southern, buttery, is considered goodness to me. I'm always experimenting with new dishes. Make sure you check out my series - Tempt My Tummy Tuesdays for a delicious, simple, and southern recipe that I share weekly.

wine = me.

Oh boy I can't wait to bring out the wine glasses again! I don't drink very much, but wine is my favorite thing to enjoy while cooking/relaxing, or with friends. Luckily, we have some of the best wineries here in Texas. One of my favorites is in good ole Aggie Land: Messina Hof.

pictures = me.

A new camera is on the top of my Christmas wish list this year. My camera is one of my most cherished possesions. I love being able to freeze precious moments in order to hold onto them forever. I don't want to forget a thing!

dogs = me.

Especially one in particular. Most of you don't know that we have a sweet lab/great dane named, Allie, she is Grace's bff. Allie is the absolute best dog, she puts up with terrors from Grace and handles Grace bouncing on her ('ride little horsey') like a champ. She is the poster dog for a family animal. We love her. She was Justin's wedding gift from me, and before Grace (sorry, Al) she was Justin's 'girl'. She still is, she's just 2nd in line now!

DVR = me.

Fall is the absolute best time of the year for TV viewing, in my opinion. It is also when my DVR is on overload. The shows I love include: House, So You Think You Can Dance, Greys Anatomy, The Office, Flash Forward, Super Nanny. I love my TV time with JK, we have frequent TV date nights.

lists = me.

I am obsessed with list making. If I don't write it down, I forget. That's how much I rely on lists. I also just love the feeling of getting things accomplished and being able to check them off. Some fabulous stationary/list making items you ask? I love finding cheap ones at Target or Michaels, and for stationary (like for christmas lists, etc.) I love this hop called Swoozies in our town center here in Sugar Land. It's perfect!

Tempt My Tummy Tuesday: Loaded Baked Potato Soup

For this week I am sharing my all-time favorite soup recipe!

Loaded Baked Potato Soup

2/3 - cup butter

2/3 - cup flour

7 - cups milk

4 - large potatoes, baked,cooled, cubed (about 4 cups)

4 - green onions, thinly sliced

10 - strips of bacon, cooked, drained, and crumbled

1 1/4 - cups shredded cheese (I always use more, but we love cheese)

1 - cup sour cream

3/4 - teaspoon salt

1/2 - teaspoon pepper

In large stockpot, over low heat, melt butter. Stir in flour. Stir until smooth and bubbly. Gradually add milk, stirring constantly, until sauce has thickened. Add potatoes and onions. Continue to cook, stirring constantly, until soup begins to bubble. Reduce heat; simmer gently for 10 minutes. Add remaing ingredients, stir until cheese has melted.

We are usually home for Thanksgiving.

On Thanksgiving Eve we have game night playing cards, and this year, WII!

Thanksgiving Morning we watch the Macy's Thanksgiving Day Parade (this is my favorite parade and it is a huge family tradition to watch it every year) and I usually make Orange Cinnamon Rolls.

Our Turkey Day table consists of:

College Football is always enjoyed and after dinner we watch National Lampoon's Christmas Vacation.

The day after Thanksgiving is when we head out to cut down our Christmas tree. This year we are going to try Dewberry Farm's. We usually spend the rest of the day putting out decorations in the yard.

Hello lovely readers! I was in desperate need of a make up bag makeover, and thought I would share all of my favs with you! I think I might start a new series called 'these are a few of my favorite things' and feature different things each week, what do you think? Would you participate????

FACE

1. bareMinerals Foundation by Bare Escentuals in light. I love this stuff it is so light weight and the best part about it is, it has SPF15 in it. So my face is always protected from the sun. 2. Bare Escentuals face brush - works perfect. 3. ooh la lift by benefit - this is like panty hose in a bottle! it gives you an instant eyelift, perfect for my sleepless nights shown through the bags under my eyes. this stuff is a-mazing! 4. Clinique Superbalanced - works great, goes on smooth, isn't cakey at all, and it doesn't give me the 'make up look' it looks very natural, and it's oil free. 5. Too Faced Papa Don't Peach - the best blush I have ever used, it gives just enough pop to your cheeks.

EYES

6. Maybeline Colossal Mascara - I have probably used every mascara in the book, but this is by far my favorite. 7. Urban Decay Eyeshadow - in YDK (for daytime) and Oil Slick (for nighttime) I just love this stuff, it is so much fun and super sassy! 8. Almay Eye Pencil - I call this my ol' faithful, I have been using this same eyeliner since I was 14, it just works for me. I love it.

9. Cover Girl Wetslicks Lipgloss - in Honey Talks and Shimmershell, you know how most lip glosses are super sticky? Not these!! 10. Aquaphor - 'nough said, I never leave the house without it.

This week on TMTT is:

Parmesan Crusted Chicken

Ingredients:

3/4 - cup butter

2 - teaspoons minced garlic

1 - cup bread crumbs

1/2 - cup parmesan cheese

1 - teaspoon thyme

1 - teaspoon basil

1 - teaspoon oregano

1/4 - teaspoon black pepper

1/2 - teaspoon salt

6 - boneless chicken breasts

Directions:

1. melt butter and stir in garlic. in a seperate bowl, combine bread crumbs, parmesan, and spices.

2. dip chicken in butter, and then into the bread crumb mixture. place in a baking dish greased with olive oil.

3. drizzle leftover butter over chicken in dish, and then press on leftover bread crumb mixture.

4. bake at 350 degrees for 40-50 minutes.

5. if desired, sprinkle shredded mozzarella cheese over chicken breasts during last 10 minutes of baking.

Halloween was absolutely wonderful! The weather was perfect, and we just had a really great time. Earlier in the day, we went to a Bluegrass festival up in Bellville for some live music, yummy food, and trick-or-treating. Grace just loved it!

When we got home (and after a much needed nap) we got Grace dressed in her 'Good Witch' costume to hit the streets for some local TOT-ing. She just looked SO cute in her costume. Thanks to her big noggin filled with a big brain, her hat would not stay on her head, so I was able to get a good shot of her fully dressed, then it was off with the hat!

After we went to Mimi and Pawpaw's, and Gigi's, we met up with our sweet friend's, The Stamper's, to continue the night. Grace and Rylie had the time of their lives getting all of the candy. They are just the best of friends. Enjoy some pictures from their TOT-ing.

Thank you all SOOOO much for your sweet comments and prayers.
We made it home this afternoon, and after a much needed nap, I am able to get on here to give you all an update!
Little Jacob is doing great. His heart rate was perfect when we left the hospital and everything is going to be fine. I did have 2 somewhat strong contractions while there, but nothing to get too excited about yet.
My doctor monitored me for quite sometime and sent me home with rest in order. She thinks that the non-movement could have been the position that he was in, or he might have just been sleeping out of pattern. But, she was able to 'wake him up' and get him moving for me. I am so thankful for God's answered prayers.
Please continue to pray that things stay this way! Only 4 more weeks! WHEW!!!

We are headed to the hospital this morning...
I have been monitoring Jacob's movement nightly since I was about 28 weeks pregnant through what they call 'fetal kick count' - if you have never been preggo here is a little on what it is:

Fetal kick count is an easy, non-invasive, harmless method you can use to monitor fetal well being during the third trimester. A fetus typically starts to make obvious movements which can be felt by the pregnant mother from around weeks 18-20 but it is only after week 28 of your pregnancy that you can actually count with some consistency. This is a reliable tool for assessing the well being of your fetus on your home grounds.

Well, I am In the middle of my 34th week, and have not felt Mr. Jacob move in over 10 hours. I have done all of the home remedies to 'wake him up' and have not been successful.

So we are on the way to the hospital to get everything checked out. I am sure everything is fine (PRAYERS PLEASE) but we have to go make sure.

Your prayers would be greatly appreciated.

Goblin Good Gorp

2 - cups salted peanuts

1 - cup mini oreos

1 - cup candy corn

1/2 - cup goldfish crackers

1/2 - cup raisins

Mix all ingredients in a 1 1/2 - to 2-quart covered container; cover tightly.

Store at room temperature! ENJOY!

We have had SO much fun these past few days!!!

Friday night J and I took Grace to the pumpkin patch to pick out pumpkins.

We made it home with 4 of them - 1 for each of us. The pumpkin Grace picked out for Jacob was so tiny, and sweet. She's precious, and seems to be excited about her little brother's arrival.

Saturday we spent most of the day at MiMi and PawPaw's playing outside in the absolutely GORG weather! It was perfect. Saturday evening we met up with The Stamper's for a night of Fall Fun at their neighborhood park. Grace had a blast to say the least!

Tempt My Tummy Tuesday Series

It's that time again! This week I am going to share with ya'll Chicken Taco Soup. It is in my crockpot right now, and it smells divine! Enjoy!

Chicken Taco Soup

Ingredients:

1 onion, chopped
1 can Chili Beans (15 oz)
1 can Black Beans (15 oz)
1 can whole kernel corn (15 oz)
1 can tomato sauce (8 oz)
1 can/bottle (or you can use chicken stock) beer
2 cans Rotel
1 package Taco Seasoning (1.25 oz)
3 whole skinless, boneless chicken breasts

Directions:

Place onion, Chili Beans, Black Beans, corn, tomato sauce, beer (or chicken stock), and Rotel in your crockpot. Add the taco seasoning and stir together.

Add chicken breasts to mix, making sure that they are covered by other ingredients. Set the cooker to low and cook for 5 hours.

Remove the chicken breasts to another plate or cutting board and shred. Stir the shredded chicken back into the crock pot and continue cooking on low for another 2 hours.

Serve with all or any combination of: shredded cheese, sour cream, crushed tortilla chips, or corn bread (my FAV).

Weekend Re-cap

I did it!!!!

I kept my self sane while hubby was out-o-town! I organized every room/closet/drawer we have in this house. Call me crazy, I am sure I lifted things I wasn't supposed too... Believe me, it wasn't easy bending down with a 7 1/2 month preggo belly, but I did it, and I am SO relieved that it's finished. Grace and I have baked cookies almost every day, and ate them on the floor in the kitchen the minute they came out of the oven. She is such a little buddy. We have had the time of our lives bonding while JK has been gone. We painted our toes watched Disney movies in my bed. Colored an entire coloring book. Played dress up in my jewelry. And for the first time, I let her play with my hair; she was so sweet doing it, she just brushed it so softly, and then of course we had to 'fix' all of her baby dolls hair. Thank you all for the sweet comments when I was 'freaking out' about him being gone. Ha!

Justin made it in on Friday evening, and I couldn't have been more excited! Even though he was only gone for a day short of a week it seemed like a year! Maybe my 'seperation anxiety' has a lot to with the fact that I am preggo, but good gosh I missed my man! Grace missed him SO much too, it was a perfect reunion at the airport, Grace screamed at the top of her little lungs the moment she saw him. (of course I left my camera at home and wasn't able to capture this prescious moment, boo.)

We had an oh so fabulous weekend of playing! The weather was perfect and we took FULL advantage of it. Saturday we went to Dewberry Farms and had the time of our lives, there is just SO much to do there. Grace had a smile from ear to ear the entire time we were there! She just loved it. The pumpkin patch was HUGE! The hayride was worth the wait, and the scenery of all the little kiddos dressed in their halloween/fall best was just precious!

Sunday we didn't do too much. We laid low, relaxed, and watched TONS of football!!!! Have I told ya'll that Grace is obsessed with football (a.k.a "b-ball")??? Well, she is. It's SO fun to watch a game with her, she almost gets into as much as her Daddy.... almost.

So, Grace will be turning 2 in less than 2 months!! Everytime I think about this I can't believe it.

My little precious angel baby is now my little precious angel toddler!!! I can't even begin to explain the joy she has brought to our lives. I honestly didn't know it was possible to love someone as much as I love our sweet girl. It has been SO fun watching her grow. All of her milestones, and explorations. From her first word to her first booboo. It has been nothing but fun. She is our greatest blessing.

I have started thinking about birthday party stuff, since I want to get most of the planning done so I don't have to stress about it when Jacob arrives. Grace has an absolute passion for (none other than) COWS! Moo-moos as she calls them, will be the theme of her birthday party this year. I am so excited to be creative and make this as girly as possible. Afterall cowprint and hot pink is SO girly in my opinion. Erica at Sweetprints is designing her birthday invites as we speak, and I can't even WAIT to see what she creates. She's amazing. I will share the minute I get them!

Tempt My Tummy Tuesdays

I decided to share a dessert with ya'll this week. This is one of my favorite Fall desserts.

ENJOY! Let me know if you try it out!

Chocolate Chip Pumpkin Cookies

1 cup shortening

2 cups sugar

2 eggs

2 teaspoons vanilla

2 (15 oz.) cans pumpkin

4 cups flour

1 1/2 teaspoon baking soda

1 1/2 teaspoon baking powder

1 teaspoon salt

1 teaspoon cinnamon

1 teaspoon pumpkin pie spice

1 pinch nutmeg

2 cups chocolate chips

In a large bowl, cream together the shortening and sugar until smooth. Beat in the eggs, one at a time. Stir in vanilla and pumpkin until well blended. Combine the flour, baking soda, baking powder, salt, cinnamon, pumpkin spice. and nutmeg; stir into pumpkin mixture. Fold in chocolate chips.

Drop by teaspoonfools onto cookie sheets. Bake at 350 degrees for 12-15 minutes. Allow to cool on baking sheet for a few minutes before transferring to a wire rack. Makes about 7 dozen cookies.

**Note: These cookies will bake pretty much exactly how you drop them on the cookie sheet. They don't really expand or rise too much, so if there are peaks in your cookie batter when they're on the sheet, you'll have crunchy little peaks baked in your cookies. I get a teaspoon full and roll them in a ball in my hand before I put them on the cookie sheet.

We had a rough day today. Grace went for her 4th round of shots. Poor thing got 7 shots, YES, 7! She is such a trooper and she is already sound asleep in her big girl bed. Love that little peanut.

my new oh so fabulous scarf...

I played along with Meredith's scarf swap from a few weeks ago, and might I tell you, I think this was SUCH a wonderful idea. I have had the best time getting to know my scarf swap pal, and it has just been a fabulous experience making a new friend, AND getting a new scarf!

Ok, if you live anywhere near the Richmond/Katy Tx region, I am almost positive your heard me squeal with excitement when I ripped open my sweet little package from my new darling friend Anna. And to my absolute surprise there was not only 1 in this sweet little package, there were 2 scarves! And I can't EVEN express to you how much I lurrrrrrrrrve them!!!!

Just take a look at these lovlies!!!!!

Honestly, this picture does them absolutely NO justice! They are amazing! So fun and vibrant! She hit my fav colors right on the nose (I totally consider turquoise a shade of blue - you're so funny), and I couldn't be more thankful for them!

The little card that was enclosed with these beauties, was just the sweetest thing, and I KNOW through this experience I have not only been blessed with 2 A-MAZING scarves, but I have been blessed with a new friendship!!!!!!! Anna, thank you SO much. You rock.

New Series! Tempt My Tummy Tuesdays!

I am SO excited to start this new series on The Kucera Family Blog.

I just love to cook (Justin loves that I like to cook too). So I thought I would share some of my favorite recipes weekly with you, from Meals to Desserts and everything in between. So enjoy!
This week on TMTT I am featuring DE-LISH Beef Dish.

Dream Spaghetti

Ingredients:

8 oz of spaghetti
3 cup of spaghetti sauce (I prefer Prego)
1 lb. of ground beef
8 oz of small curd cottage cheese
4 oz of sour cream
1-2 cups of shredded mozzerella cheese

Directions:

Heat oven to 350 degrees. Cook spaghetti noodles. Brown meat and drain. Combine the sauce and cooked meat. Mix the cottage cheese and sour cream in a small bowl. Layer the bottom of a 9x13 pan with the noodles. Spread the cottage cheese/sour cream over the noodles. Top with the meat mixture. Sprinkle (a considerable amount I always use more than what the recipe calls for) of mozzerella cheese on top. Bake for 30 minutes at 350 degrees. Enjoy!

It is so good and freezes so easily. Since spagetti usually come in 16 oz packages, it is convenient to make one pan to eat for dinner and one to freeze for the nights you don't feel like cooking!

I must confess, I am not 'big' into splurging, but there are few things in my closet that I am quite proud of, that if I had paid full retail for, would have been total splurges.

Good morning lovies!
Last night was a success! Grace slept the WHOLE night in her big girl bed. She was SO precious when she woke up. She is in our bed with her Daddy watching recorded football, of course!

I sit here typing this post with so much pride!! Tonight is Grace's first night in her 'big girl' bed and she did absolutely wonderful. Justin and I snuck in after we knew she was in sweet dreams and snap this quick shot of her.

Last night we took Grace back to the fair, she had a blast, once again. So did we. Funnel Cakes are a must have at the fair. Yum.

Can you believe it is OCTOBER 1st already?

I couldn't be any more excited!

I have been on Etsy for the past 30 minutes looking up halloween treasures. If you know me, you know my absolute LOVE for candy corn. So, I thought I would share my findings with you!!!

I must have this candy corn pillow cover adorn my couch with. Isn't it just precious?!

I think these wine glasses are fabulous! I just ordered 2 of them to sit out in my house to put CANDY CORN in.

What a cute way to personalize your Halloween treats; for the neighboors, friends, or kiddos! Love these sweet little stickers.

{sweet Jacob Ryan - 30 weeks ultra sound - 09/29/09}

I registered today at the hospital for the birth of Jacob Ryan, his debut is getting closer and closer. I can not be ANY MORE thrilled with St. Luke's Sugar Land. Their birthing center - Sweet Beginnings was wonderful. I met some of the day-shift staff and had a tour of the department. Since I had Grace at Methodist, this is a whole new ball game for me.

I can not believe I am 30 weeks pregnant today. It seems like just yesterday we found out we were expecting! My how time flys by! We are just SO excited to welcome this sweet little boy into this world.

Shopping in Your Closet: Frugal Fashonista Style

I am SO excited about this week's:

Sweet Meredith hosts this super fun blog event on a regular basis, and this week's SIYC is Frugal Fashionistas!

I just recently used (an almost expired) coupon at Oldnavy and found some darling things that I can layer and have fun with this Fall, and of course while searching for more fall treasures I found other items at Target and Forever 21

{I tried out this new thing at Polyvore, it's crazy fun: WARNING - you will spend hours creating your masterpiece, I promise you)

So a closer look:

1. Old Navy Maternity Jeans, by far my favorite and the most comfortable denim in my closet these days, I bought 2 more pair on my online shopping extravaganza, so these will be accompaning the other pair I already have hanging in my closet. They are on sale for $25 right now!

2. Women's Square Sunglasses (in black, they also come in white) from Old Navy, these were only $5!!!!! These are PERFECT for throw down, don't care if you lose them, play date at the park, sunglasses!

3. Women's Belted Shawl Cardi Coat (in Bougainvillea Pink, comes in other colors as well) from Old Navy, were $40 marked down to $20 RIGHT NOW! And ther perfect thing is I will still be able to wear this when I am 'un-preggo'!

4. Are these not the most precious flats ever? I found them at Forever21- Rhinestone Bow Ballet Flats, they are right at $16!!! So CUTE! I can't EVEN wait to get these in the mail box.

5. Another fav find at Old Navy - I love this Guaze Top (many colors, I bought it in lead pipe). It's on sale for $20!

6. Rose Earrings - Forever 21 - Under $4 - enough said!

7. I love argyle, and I wanted a scarf that would match my new cardi coat, so I typed 'purple argyle scarf' into the search box and this is what it found for me. It's from Torrid, which is a plus size store, they have DARLING accessories - this one was $12!

8. Oh, Tar-jay, how I love you! I actually went to target.com to purchase some more sheets for Grace's 'big girl bed' and accidentally clicked on the accessories tab and then accidentally clicked onto the hanbags tab; and well, $17 (yes that's all) later, this is in a box shipped to me as of 2 days ago. Along with the sheets of course.

9. AND for some mix and match fun, I threw in these leggings (that were only $10) at Old Navy so I could get free shipping on my treasures for the day. You can never have too many pairs of leggings, they go with EVERYTHING and they are so comfy!

a NOT so lazy weekend...

This weekend went by incredibly fast! I don't even know if I sat down except to eat and sleep. I had so many plans, and I never make a list... which drives Justin absolutely crazy, but this weekend I made a list. We didn't get it completed by far, but we got some things accomplished. It felt so good to get things done and marked off the list. So, here it is (feel free to think that I am absolutely CRAZY for thinking we could get it all done this weekend):

- cut the grass
- get new fan for living room and install it
- finish Grace and Jacob's bathroom
- go through Grace's clothes to sell on EBAY
- get some things ready for Craigslist (love this site!!!)
- get caught up on laundry, yes I am a HUGE slacker here, it's on of my many faults
- purchase paint for walls in house
- paint trim in house (ok, ok, just start it)
- finish our new path from driveway to front door with rocks
- go to Home Depot to purchase paint, rocks, fan, etc.

These are all things I wanted to get done on Satruday and Sunday after church. We got quite a bit done, considering Justin's ~OH SO HECTIC~ schedule. And on top of all of that, Grace had a little bug Thursday/Thursday night, causing her to have a fever of 104 degres, poor baby!

Friday, Justin was able to take off from work, so we took Grace to the Fort Bend County Parade and Fair, where we met Whitney, Ryan, and their sweet little girl Rylie.

Grace had her first pony ride (accompanied by Daddy). She just laughed, smiled, and waved at everyone, the entire ride.

Today was the 'yard work' day... Meaning Grace and I played while watching Daddy do the 'yard work'. He is such a hard worker. I am forever gratful for him. Here are some shots from today:

Also, FALL is here!! Grace (me too!!) needs some Fall/warmer clothes and I am on the search for some boots for her as well. So... if anyone is going shopping anytime soon, please oh please let us know, we would love to go!!

It has been a busy few days for The Kucera Fam!

On Friday night, we met up with some sweet friends for dinner. Celeste is due 3 weeks before we are! They have a darling little girl Cielo and are expecting..... ANOTHER GIRL! It was nice to have family time shared with dear friends.

Grace just thinks the world of Celeste and Alex's little girl, Cielo. She is 4, full of sass and ALL girl! Her and Grace get a long so well. They are like 2 peas in a pod and when together absolutely inseperable!

On Saturday, Grace and I spent the day shopping with MiMi and GiGi and then finishing off the day with some much needed R&R. One of Grace's favorite things to do at MiMi and PawPaw's is to help water the flowers around their fish pond. She is such an outdoors girl, I love it! She is a 'girly-girl' but is definitely not afraid to get her hands in some dirt. This is God's way of preparing her for her little brother! I just know it!

Sunday, as always, was a very special day. But, more special than usual because Justin and I were able to share a precious moment with some very close friends. Our friends Whitney and Ryan were baptized together. What an amazing and sweet moment. I am so happy for them!

After the baptism service we had a delicious meal at Gringo's with the entire family! It was so much fun to see/meet everyone. What a fun and blessed day!

Today, I spent most of the day cleaning (of course with ALL of the help in the world). I cleaned out closets and did all of the usual house cleaning chores. And to top it all off I cooked an AMAZING meal (if I do say so myself). I just couldn't help but share the delicious recipe with ya'll. So here it is......... Enjoy!

Cheesy Baked Ziti

Ingredients:

1 pound ground hamburger meat

3 cups of ziti (cooked and drained)

1 jar of spaghetti sauce (I prefer Prego Traditional)

8 ounces of shredded mozzerella cheese (I actually use more than this)

3/4 cup of shredded parmesan cheese

Directions:

Preheat oven to 375 degrees. In a large skillet, brown meat. Drain. Stir in (cooked and drained) ziti, spaghetti sauce, and mozzerrella cheese and 1/2 cup of parmesan cheese. Spoon into a 9 x 13 (glass) baking dish and cover with the remainder of parmesan cheese (I also add more mozzarrella here - we love cheese!). Cover with foil and bake for 20 minutes. DELISH!

Had a fabulous MOMS group on Friday and can't even begin to express my thanks for Lisa speaking on her '10 Little Nuggets' of being a Momma.

She called these her left overs these are brilliant blessings taught to her by wise Momma's in her life. So, I just couldn't help but share with all of you.

Try it on!... Don't Compare!... You'll Never Arrive!

10 Little Nuggets

#1 - PRAY

#2 - Develop your relationship with God to be a good Mom, wife, friend. Spend time with Him bring everything to Him.

#3 - Become a student of your child or you will never be able to Mother them.

#4 - Be prepared for a curveball, you could be traveling down a one way street moving perfectly and then all of a sudden be blindsided but with God we can handle anything!

#5 - Pray with your child(ren) if they are old enough for requests, ASK THEM, ask them what you can pray for them about. If they are toddlers, pray over them, pray for their future, prayer works!

#6 - You the boss, remeber this! You are the rule keeper - wise counsel - YOU set the boundaries and make sure you are consistant with all 3 of these. But, also, be your childs best friend and of course, care taker.

#7 - Have traditions. Leave a legacy in your home. Provide something that your children can carry on

#8 - Validate your children (their feelings). Understand them. Turn a negative moment into a teaching moment, when they have had a bad day and they come home and tell you "I lied to my teacher today, Mom, she's so stupid, I just don't like her" instead of getting mad that they lied, tell them "you aren't going to always like people in your life, it's just something you have to overcome and deal with."

#9 - Develop your relationship with your husband to be a better Mom. The disconnect when your child(ren) leave the home will be greater if the relationship with your hubby isn't developed now. Set up lunch dates with him, calender in time with him - this is a must!

#10 - Go shopping! Develop yourself - don't put yourself last (I know this is hard to do!) Go get your nails done, buy a new outfit, go see a movie! A crabby Mommy is not a good Mommy!

I hope everyone had a fabulous Labor Day weekend! We sure did. Unfortunately, I left the camera at home (bummer) so I am patiently waiting for my Sis-in-Law to send me pictures and videos from this weekend. We spent Labor Day at Justin's Sister's ranch out in Kenney, TX (near Brenham). Grace had the time of her life feeding the Donkeys (hee-hos) and Cows (moo-moos) the smile on her face was priceless and a joy that I really remember all of my days, just like any other time she smiles. So as you can imagine, I can't WAIT to share all of our 'kodak moments' and it was extra special being able to spend so much time with Justin.

I have the absolute pleasure of keeping my dear friend, Whitney's, sweet little girl, Rylie, on Wednesdays while she teaches a dance class here in our neighborhood. I must say this is one of my favorite moments to see Grace and Rylie play together. And ALSO be able to spend precious time with my dear sweet friend when she is finished teaching. Here are some pictures of the girls for your enjoyment! OH! And, I hope she doesn't mind me saying this but she told me today that they are EXPECTING!!!!!!!!! This is such GREAT news. The most amazing thing is, Grace and Rylie are 5 months apart. If Whitney is as far along as she thinks (3-4 weeks) than her newbie and Jacob will be 5 months apart! What a great story, and what a great future ahead for our little ones - full of friendship, fun, and growing up together!

AND.....

We have finally (almost) finished Grace's room! This has been so much work but has been a blast at the same time, her eyes just beam with excitement every time she enters her "NEW WOOM" she is SO excited to spend her future days in her big girl room. So, here are some before and after pictures (minus the curtains that I am still waiting to come in from pottery barn kids - check them out, they are SUPER cute). Little Jacob's room is almost finished as well, we still have to decorate but the hard labor is finished, praise God! I will post pictures of his room as soon as it is complete.

Shopping in Your Closet: Denim & Animal Print

My darling friend, Meredith, started a fabulous weekly blog series called Shopping in Your Closet, each week is a different category in your closet! This week's category is your FAV denim & animal print. Since I am preggo my favorite clothing has turned to maternity, but, not to worry, I have found DARLING maternity clothes, and some in particular for this 'Shopping in Your Closet' series! So here are a few of my absolute favorites!

This is a fun green zebra print dress from Glitz & Glamour Boutique! It is one of my favorite dresses of all time. It fits perfectly even with a 6 month preggo belly AND it isn't even maternity (please excuse the 'internet pics my camera is dead barely holds a charge anymore - it's on my Christmas list, that's for sure)!

These are my absolute FAVORITE pair of shoes. I could not imagine my closet without them. They are Micharl Kors Leopard Pumps and I just adore them. And the most amazing thing about them, is I won them through an auction on EBAY for $68.00!!!!!!! Can you believe that?

And last but certainly not least, my favorite pair of denim hanging in my closet are my Seven for all Mankind Maternity Jeans from A Pea in the Pod. LOVE THEM!

i've got the blues... or maybe not...

I have been stocking up Grace's closet for Fall/Winter, and I have had SUCH a blast doing it!
It is so much fun to play dress up with her, now that she is old enough to get excited about new clothes. We spent 4 hours at the mall yesterday trying on just about every outfit you could imagaine.

I found one, yes ONE thing that I liked for the little man. What is wrong with me? Am I crazy? not looking in the right places? I can't seem to find anything that I like for my little Prince that is on the way. Any suggestions on where to look would be greatly appreciated!!!

The bedroom makeovers for my little angels is almost complete! We have just a few more touch ups and a chair to buy, and they will be done. Can't wait to share the pictures.

So this has been a crazy busy weekend!

We are cleaning out and preparing "Jacob's" room and the job is a lot more work than I had thought! Oh my goodness.

We are getting Grace's room geared up from 'baby' to 'big girl'. She is SO excited about her big girl bed and all of her new room decor. It is going to be super cute when it is finished!

She has been quite the little helper with painting and moving stuff around and bringing tools and what nots to paw paw while he creates a master piece for his 2 darling grandchildren :)

We have had such a fun and busy weekend, and I promise to share pictures as soon as the 'after' pictures have been taken!

Sorry this is so short! Promise to catch everyone up with everything once the rooms are completed.

One mans trash is another mans treasure...

I attempted a garage sale Friday morning, and to my dismay, it was a total HIT! Thanks to my sweet Dad and Granny, it was so much a success. It is so nice to finally get rid of JUNK that we don't need anymore. And the stuff that was left... We donated to this fabulous little thrift shop for youth and seniors here by our house.

But, I am still biting my nails trying to figure out what to do with all of Grace's baby clothes!!! I have BAGS FULL!

This is only HALF of it!!!

So if you know any lovely ladies that are in need of some adorable baby girls clothes from NB - 12 months, let me know!!!! I am thinking about consigning them soon. Any takers?

Last night, my darling parents offered to babysit so Justin and I could have a date night! I am so thankful that they are willing to let us have some alone time. We really need it! We missed Grace so much, but I think it was a breath of fresh air just to spend some time alone. We went to the most incredible George Strait concert and dinner, at my oh so favorite Pappsitos. Delish!

To the beginning of a whole new world...

We found out 2 weeks ago that we will be having a boy in early December!

His name will be Jacob Ryan.

Justin and I couldn't EVEN begin to describe our joy as we complete our family.

Grace seems to be super excited about being a "Big Sister"

So, we are anxiously awaiting Jake's arrival... he is due exactly four months from today!

My belly is growing bigger and bigger by the minute! My doctor informed us that he is already a big boy weighing in at 71 % when he should be at about 50 %.

Big or small :) we can't even WAIT meet our sweet baby boy and are praying for a healthy 3rd trimester and arrival!

This new blog will be a way to keep everyone up to date on our family!
